About the new logo

The new logo was designed by Tjeerd van Sas. You can find him at www.syrion.net or you can contact him through us if you would like more information. If you create banners and such things for VQWiki using this logo, please contact us.

Please keep in mind that the VQWiki name and logo are © 2005 by the VQWiki project and Martijn van der Kleijn and all rights are reserved. You are allowed to use the logo and name for non-commercial, promotional purposes for which the benefactor is the VQWiki project.

Logo

Summary:

This logo is based on the Red-crested Cardinal (Paroaria cucullata), a common bird on Hawaii.

Explanation:

Since the word “wiki” is based on the native Hawaiian word for quick/fast (wiki wiki) we thought of using a bird from Hawaii.
The Red-crested Cardinal (Paroaria cucullata), which migrated to the islands from Brazil, is a common bird on Hawaii, it's bright red crest makes it very recognisable, so we based the logo on this bird.
