You've probably been wondering how this new website layout came to be and why some functions appear not to work. Good questions, both of them.
The intention for the new layout is quite simple: to provide a sneak preview of the default layout for VQWiki release 3. The idea is that when release 3.0 becomes viable for production use, this site will be the first site running actively on version 3 and that the upgrade from a static site to an active VQWiki 3.0 site will be seamless.
Ideally you will simply notice one day that the buttons on the topic menu have become active.
When we make changes to the default layout of VQWiki 3, it will be reflected on the site aswell. This goes for changes we think of, but also for changes you have told us are necessary. Now, I'd like to point out some interesting things about the new layout: a brand new logo, a new icon set, a collapsible left menu, a tableless design that works well in both FireFox aswell as Internet Explorer, a new DiscussPage feature and informational icons like the "LastEdit" and "SecurityStatus" icons.
The SecurityStatus icon is an icon which indicates that the topic is protected by a non-default Access Control List. When you click on it, it will give you more detailed information like: who set the ACL, what you are allowed to do on the page like edit it or delete it and whether or not the ACL is inherited.
Please be aware that we are currently still having some issues with the Cascading Style Sheets code for the design and that some features displayed on the static site may not be incorporated into the wiki software.
